DSR - Where the Fish are Fresh
A Little Slice of Heaven
Fishing at the DSR offers guests an unforgettable, private water experience. Whether wading or fishing from a driftboat, anglers in every season find fishing high quality, low pressure, and easily accessible. With helpful river keepers available year round, the Salmon River is one of the most desirable fishing destinations in the Northeast.
Located at the first 2.5 miles of the Salmon River, the DSR is where steelhead, King and Coho salmon, and hearty brown trout first enter the estuary on their annual spawning trip upriver. Fresh from the estuary, the fish in the SR are unpressured and ready for all the action you can give them. Twelve designated fishing holes, shown live on this Bing Earth map, give you the best chance to meet up with all the fight you can handle.
The Best Experience on the River
Buy a DSR pass for the memorable fishing experience you've always wanted. It's yours. Today. At the DSR. We recommend getting your DSR pass online before you head out to the river.
There are more than a few good reasons to buy a DSR pass. You won't experience shoulder to shoulder casting or trash strewn banks. On-site river keepers and your fellow fishermen keep the DSR respectful and tuned to the natural rhythms of the river.
NYS Fishing License Required
Before you fish at the DSR, or anywhere on the Salmon, you'll need a NYS fishing license. Buy your NYS-DEC Fishing License here or in person at one of these local merchants in the Salmon River area.
DSR Season Passes
Douglaston Salmon Run offers a limited number of Season and Steelhead season fishing passes each year.
Season Passes are $500 for unlimited fishing at the DSR from season open, Aug.15, 2014 to season close, May 14, 2015. There is currently a 2-5 year waiting list for the Season Pass.
For more information: DSR Season Pass Information
DSR Steelhead Passes for 2014-15 fishing season are $350 and are currently available by calling 315-298-6672. For more information: Limited Season Steelhead Pass
DSR Pass Guidelines
Anglers may only purchase a Season Pass OR a Steelhead Pass, not both.
Purchasing a Steelhead pass while on the waiting list for the Season pass will not affect the anglers place in line for the Season Pass.
If an angler receives an invitation to purchase a Season Pass after they have already purchased a Steelhead Pass, the cost of the Steelhead pass can be transferred to the balance of the Season Pass.
Catch and Release Policy
As in the past, official DSR policy is 100% catch and release for ALL trout species and Atlantic salmon.
Our staff will aid anglers with fish ID and proper catch and release techniques.
We hope all experienced DSR fishermen will continue to educate daily anglers with proper species identification.
