FISHING REPORT 11 APRIL '21
4/11/2021

CFS at the dam is 350 - at Pineville the CFS started at 549 and gradually lowered to 539 by the early afternoon - water temperature mid day was 52 degrees - air temperature started at 61 degrees at first light and was up to 74 degrees by early afternoon - winds were light and variable, with occasional strong gusts - it remained overcast all day - the forecast for tomorrow is for a 60% chance of AM rain showers, becoming a steady light rain in the PM, high of 53 degrees, winds ESE 10-20 mh

25 guests checked in as early as 6 AM and as late as 1:30 PM - the first pair of anglers checked off the run at 11 AM and reported 2 / 6 Steelhead between them, drifting pink egg sacks and pink beads under a bobber - these two covered a lot of ground, from the lower section to the bottom of the upper section - the next pair came off at 11:36 AM and reported 0 / 1 Steelhead between them, swinging flies and drifting egg sacks in the lower section - the next guest came off at 12:51 PM and reported 2 / 2 Steelhead, 8 - 9# each, swinging an Intruder style fly in the middle section - as a bonus, he also went 3 / 4 on Smallmouth Bass in the 2# range - he reported that these bass were very aggressive and were slamming his fly - as a note, another guest, yesterday, fished below DSR property and was able to get into some +4# Smallmouth Bass - so they are starting to come into the run, now that we are at the magic water temperature for bass. Around mid to late afternoon about more anglers hit the river, several noted catching several steelheads, a good day on the river.

Fishing Report April 10
4/10/2021

Much warmer temperatures today than yesterday.  A number of our anglers came off the water with a little sunburn.  The warmer temperatures resulted in the water temperature rising.  One report had the afternoon water temperature in the high 50's.  Those temperatures may, in part, explain the more difficult fishing today. Anglers were still able to get into fish , but one's and two's were more the order of the day with some doing better and some not as well.  We had a couple anglers go down for that last two hours of the day and reported going two for three.

Fishing Report April 9
4/9/2021

Another beautiful day on the run.  Not as warm nor as sunny as yesterday, but still plenty warm enough and the cloud cover may have contributed to an excellent day of fishing. Water temperature ranged from the mid-to-upper 40's. Nearly all anglers that I spoke with today were very happy with the results of the day and a number of anglers were VERY happy with the their results.  Most were able to get into a fish or two, some struggled a bit, but the majority of anglers did very well.  Five fish, seven fish, and some better than that.  Mainly drop backs (that were full of fight), a couple domestics, a few browns, and even an Atlantic (that was tagged and had been released in Ontario a month ago.  By my estimation, fishing today has been the best of the season. Our last anglers off the water this evening were happy and smiling as they left.

Fishing Report April 8
4/8/2021

Another beautiful day that only  handful of anglers took advantage of.  Temperature in the low 70's and water temperature going from 44 early up 48 by mid-day. One of our anglers who swung flies in the lower end indicted that he got skunked while another angler that fished the top through the mid-section went 5 for 7 on drop back Steelhead. One angler that reported getting one Steelhead also brought a bass to hand (that's the first report I've received in that regard).  Our last two anglers off the water this evening that fished for a few hours (both float fishermen) got three Steelhead, a Brown and (another) bass.  One of the two indicted that he went one for nine and indicated that the fish were taking a variety of offerings.  Also, indicated that the water temperature goy up to 50 degrees (which explains the presence of some smallmouth.

Fishing Report April 7, 2021
4/7/2021

After our run-in with "high water" over the past week, we are back down to 350 CFS out of the dam, with a current reported flow of 555 CFS at the Pineville gauge.  Despite the receding waters, the turn out has been fairly quiet from anglers yesterday as well as today.  A majority of the anglers we spoke with today indicated pretty productive outings in their brief stay, in comparison to the past few weeks.  One angler going 4 for 6 during his quick trip this morning. Another angler reporting landing 2 brown trout along with a drop back a short while after. Water temps have continued to warm gradually, especially considering the blue bird days. One of anglers reporting an initial water temperature of 42 degrees, getting up to nearly 47 degrees by mid day.  The dam is currently scheduled to remain at a 350 CFS release 11:59 PM tomorrow.
